Why ErgoTax exists

ErgoTax is built on a simple premise: tax preparation software does not need to send your most sensitive financial documents to a remote server in order to work.

Many tax products rely on servers for document extraction, AI processing, account sync, or filing services. ErgoTax takes a local-first approach for normal preparation: process tax documents locally, keep return data on your device, and generate forms in your browser.

The product is local-first by design, not as a marketing feature. The preparation pipeline — document parsing, field extraction, tax calculation, and form generation — runs in a WebAssembly module built from a Rust core inside your browser.

ErgoTax is in public testing for the 2025 tax year. 2026 is the first year intended for practical, production-quality use.

The legal entity is TBD between ErgoTax LLC and ErgoSoft. This page will be updated when confirmed.
