Manual entry

What manual entry is for

Manual entry lets you enter or correct supported tax values directly, without uploading a document. It is the fallback when:

  • You do not have a digital copy of a document
  • A document could not be parsed (scanned image, unsupported form)
  • An extracted value is wrong and needs correction
  • A supported form type needs values that are easier to type than upload

Manual entry is a first-class input method for supported source forms and manual fact groups. Partial or unsupported forms remain marked in the support matrix and diagnostics instead of being treated as filing-ready just because a value was typed.

Correcting extracted values

After TakoTax extracts values from an uploaded document, every extracted value is shown in a review screen. You can edit any field directly. Corrections are saved to your local project.

Entering values from scratch

For supported source forms, you can open the manual entry screen for that form type and enter the same keys the compute bridge consumes. Transaction forms such as 1099-B, 1099-DA, and consolidated 1099 statements support summary totals or itemized rows when lot-level dates, basis status, wash sales, or withholding matter.

Unsupported forms

If your tax situation involves a form that TakoTax does not yet support, you will need to use only the supported fields where those values are referenced. For example, some K-1 and brokerage-statement details are supported while attached-statement, basis, or special-code cases may remain outside the filing-ready scope. W-2 tip/statutory-employee boxes and monthly or shared-allocation 1095-A cases also remain outside the filing-ready scope until their filing rules and output details are complete.

Check the supported forms matrix for current coverage.
